California's departure from the rest of the country's gas price reality is about to get more profound.  Because if we wind up getting

socked with another 65-cent tax

.  Adding to the

$1.50-ish more we pay than the rest of the country

. 

That will put us

paying over $2.00 more per gallon than the rest of the country!!!  (Um... Houston, we have a problem.)
